Ring and Disc Set

This set makes a great visual demonstration of inertia and distribution of mass. The steel ring and wood disk are equal in diameter and each possess approximately the same mass, but the mass distributions clearly differ between them. In the instance of the wood, the mass is evenly distributed throughout the body of the disc. In the ring the mass is concentrated at the outer edge. Roll them down a slope and observe the variations in acceleration between the two.
