The Document section of the crime lab uses chemistry, physics, microscopy, photography, chromatography, and sight and knowledge of the examiner. Although the type writer is barely used today, computer printers, photocopiers, and fax machines can still provide identifying marks. Examiners have access to files which show specifics on each brand of machine. The more basic tools used are those that magnify and\or measure such as calipers or glass alignment tools. Those that do both are called reticles. This kit uses many of the above tactics and more to solve investigative problems.
